Armed with her unique perspective, musical integrity and soul bearing vocals, Kathryn Dean’s distinct sound has immense depth and intelligence both lyrically and musically. She delivers an honest performance that tells her unique stories in a way that inspires and impacts the human spirit like a true artist does.

“The message I try to create with my songs is that life isn’t about being perfect. It is about recognizing that every up and down has an equally valuable life lesson. Take a potentially powerless situation and turn potential defeat into victory”, Kathryn says.

In support of her debut EP, she performed at Sunset Sessions (to rave reviews), released her first single “I’ll Show You Crazy” and began to dig her way into over 40 Non-Comm radio stations on regular rotation. The official music video for the single was directed by Paul Boyd whose many credits include Goo Goo Dolls, Seal, Celine Dion and Sting. More recently, Dean went on the road for ‘Camplified Tour 2015’, and performed at summer camps in New York, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New Jersey. After an incredibly successful indie run with her EP, Dean just recently released her full length album “Hit The Lights”, featuring five emotionally explosive new tracks in addition to new productions from her EP. Soon after its street date of April 28, 2015, the first single “Be My Sin” spent 12 weeks on the Top 40 Indicator Charts. Heading into the fall, the single is now set for a national HOT AC radio campaign. The official music video is currently at a half of a million views. Her recent press includes an interview in New York at AOL Live (moderated by Joe Levy managing editor of Billboard), Cosmopolitan Magazine and an iHeart Radio Studio Broadcast.

Beyond writing for her own music releases, Kathryn’s songwriting catalogue has been used in films, television and compilations. Her originals have been featured on various shows on CBS, ABC and NBC. Her songs “So Undeniable” and “Told You So” are featured on a television viewing audience that averages 42 million an episode in Brazil on the nighttime dramas Malhacao, A Regra Do Jogo, and the compilation album for ‘Alto Astra’ which featured Kathryn Dean and songs by stars such as Sam Smith, John Legend and Gloria Estefan. The result of these Novella TV placements has been over 10 million YouTube views and an ever-growing international fan base. Kathryn’s latest trip to Brazil included live performances on Encontro (Brazil’s top entertainment talk show), the carnival episode of Malhacao, and a concert at Globo Kiosk at the world famous Ipanema Beach. She has twice been selected as a finalist in Reverb Nation’s Un-Signed Only American Song Writing Contest and is an International Acoustic Music Award recipient.

When asked about her songwriting Kathryn says, “My songs are a reflection of my own experiences and those around me. Songwriting is very cathartic for me and I hope that my songs are as therapeutic for my listeners.”

Kathryn splits her time between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a huge animal advocate and loves to take credit for being the first person to discover Adele (ha-ha).
