Songwriter Show - ft. Andy Griggs, Wynn Varble & Gary Hannan

Songwriter Show - ft. Andy Griggs, Wynn Varble & Gary Hannan

Saturday, May 11, 2019 8:00 pm

Andy Griggs’ debut album in 1999 “You Won’t Ever Be lonely,” accounted for five singles on the billboard country singles charts. The first three singles were all Top Ten hits. “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely” spent thirty-six weeks on the top charts, making it the sixth-longest chart run on the country charts in the 1990s decade.
By 1997, Griggs was paving his way in Nashville. He issued his debut album, You Won't Ever Be Lonely, in 1999; it went gold and charted three Top Ten singles with "She's More," "I'll Go Crazy," and "You Won't Ever Be Lonely." Three years later, Griggs returned to the country spotlight with a second album, Freedom. The album's first single, "Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man," was another chart smash. The Good Life, on Montage Records, appeared in 2008.

Wynn Varble admits he must have been destined for a career in country music. Wynn was raised in the small town of Ellenwood, Georgia, where music was a central part of his life. He recalls his father’s collection of country LP’s and the hours he spent listening to the legends: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, and Jimmie Rodgers, whom Wynn credits as being his primary musical influences. He says he did just about anything to hear the newest country record – even if it meant trading in his big brother’s rock albums and catching trouble for it afterwards! Wynn picked up a guitar for the first time when he was 15 and taught himself to play. He remembers picking out his first original melodies soon after he mastered basic chord progressions. The creative sparks started flying, and Wynn formed a bluegrass band when he turned 16. After graduating high school, Wynn started on the path to musical success playing the club circuit. His talent playing bluegrass landed him gigs from Austin to Ft. Lauderdale; during this time he was perfecting his style, not only as a country artist but also as a songwriter. In 1982, Wynn visited some friends in Nashville. He spent several months writing with an up-and-coming singer/songwriter named Dave Gibson. It was this collaboration that proved to be Wynn’s ticket out of the club scene and into the Nashville music community. Varble completely relocated to Nashville in 1992. Gibson introduced him to Cliff Williamson, then-director of Starstruck Writers Group, and Wynn was signed to the publisher in 1994. After Starstruck was sold to Warner/Chappell Music, Wynn joined the Warner/Chappell writing staff. Wynn had his first #1 song “Have You Forgotten” with Darryl Worley in 2003. The song was nominated for SONG OF THE YEAR by the CMA. In 2008, Waitin’ on a Woman, which Wynn co-wrote with Don Sampson was nominated by the CMA for SONG OF THE YEAR. His most recent #1, I’m a Little More Country recorded by Easton Corbin, was also nominated by the ACM for SONG OF THE YEAR. Wynn’s songs have been cut by a range of great artists, including Easton Corbin, Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley, Darryl Worley, Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry, Jason Sellers, Gary Allan, Trace Adkins, Clint Daniels, Kevin Denney, Tracy Byrd, The Kinleys, Chris LeDoux, Danni Leigh, Mark Chesnutt and Sammy Kershaw.

Multi Platinum selling #1 hit songwriter Gary Hannan has written songs for many of Country Music’s biggest stars including a contribution to Blake Shelton’s Grammy nominated ACA and ACM album of the year ‘Based on A True Story’, which held the top spot on the Billboard Album charts for several weeks. Additional cuts include #1 song ‘Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off’ recorded by Joe Nichols and #1 ‘Back When I Knew It All’ by Montgomery Gentry. Other renowned artists to cover Gary’s songs include Garth Brooks, Darryl Worley, Craig Morgan, John Michael Montgomery, Michael Peterson and John Corabi of Motley Crue, Nickelback and many more.

Elvis Tribute Artist - Jake Slater

Elvis Tribute Artist - Jake Slater

Saturday, May 18, 2019 7:00 pm

Jake was born December 31st, 1991. He lived the first thirteen years of his life in a small farming community just south of Saginaw Michigan where he attended school, went to church, and began the love for the music that would change his life forever. Life was pretty simple with a go-cart, shooting guns in the back forty with Dad, playing with his dog, and working on old cars in the garage with his Grandpa. An Elvis fan since 6 years old, his interest in Elvis began when his Grandparents acquired the internet. While listening to an online 1950's music channel, the sounds of "You're So Square (Baby I Don't Care)" echoed through the speakers. The artist's name accompanying the song title was that of Elvis Presley. The light bulb lit up and the gene of Rock n' Roll was switched on.
At the age of thirteen, Jake made an important move north to Bellaire, Michigan the same as Elvis did from Tupelo to Memphis all those years ago. This move proved to be a turning point, and the doors of opportunity were soon opened for Jake and his career as an Elvis tribute artist. Christmas 2007 would be the first time anyone would see Jake perform, besides his parents in their living room back in St. Charles. A brief show for family and neighbors would be the debut of his idea to tribute to the King of Rock n' Roll. The idea was young but the potential was there for something special. One audience member, a very good friend and neighbor Jean Ann Gordon, would be the one to later get Jake his very first show, in the summer of 2008. This was the beginning of Jake performing for the public. It was a sold out show and a big confidence boost. A week to the day after that first show the phone rang and on the other end was someone wanting to book a show on the opposite side of the state. Since then, the phones haven't stopped ringing and the shows continue.
Jake is a National and International award winning Elvis Tribute Artist that has performed all over Michigan, across the country, and as well as Canada. Jake performs all eras of Elvis's music, the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. He has performed for audiences of all sizes, sold out shows, and for many wonderful causes. Elvis tribute competitions were another layer of expansion in Jake's career; the first being, the Saginaw Kingfest, where he won the Early Years segment of the contest in 2009. In 2011 he competed again and won the entire competition, receiving the title of King of Saginaw! Jake has the distinction of being the only King of Saginaw who has won both the Early Years and Concert Years portions of the competition as well as winning the overall title. In 2011, Jake competed in Branson, MO and Tupelo, MS in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary rounds. He then also competed in the preliminary round at the Windsor Elvis Festival in June 2011. It was there that he qualified and went on to represent Windsor, Ontario, later that year and getting to compete in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition in Memphis, TN. Jake was one of only twenty-six qualifying tribute artists from around the world at the 2011 competition in Memphis. In April 2013, Jake was awarded 2nd place in the Branson Elvis Festival for the second time. He has performed four SOLD OUT shows at the Bay City State Theatre, with two of those sellouts in the same year, 2013! Jake received an official congratulation certificate letter noting the sellouts. No other performer has accomplished this at the State Theatre.
Jake then competed and won the title of King of Saginaw again in 2014! He is the only Elvis Tribute Artist to win this title twice and remains the reigning King of Saginaw. From there, he qualified to go on and compete in Memphis, TN at the Elvis Entertainers Network Championships. Jake recently performed at Bay City, Michigan's Wenonah Park this past summer 2015, where it stated in the newspapers the following day, that there were over 5,000 fans that attended! A recent accomplishment for Jake, was being featured on the cover of Northern Express Magazine, which also included a feature interview article issue inside!
Capturing the voice, moves, style, facts, and complete aura of Elvis, and keeping his memory alive, Elvis Tribute Artist Jake Slater will simply captivate and take you back to a time when rock and roll was at its purest and most influential state. He will bring back memories for those who lived in the time of Elvis' career and make new memories for younger generations. "And now ladies and gentlemen, not from Tupelo, Mississippi, but from the back roads and by ways of Bellaire, Michigan, please welcome Elvis Tribute Artist Jake Slater!"

Comedian Matt Holt

Comedian Matt Holt

Friday, June 28, 2019 8:30 pm

Matt Holt has been making people laugh most of his life. He's been doing it professionally for nearly 20 years. He displays a quick-wit and razor-sharp delivery along with a very laid back and conversational style on stage. When a comic lives in the moment, no two shows are alike. With his relaxed style, Matt transitions seamlessly from scripted material to of-the-cuff conversation with the audience, leaving them laughing, applauding and gasping for air. Being the youngest of 8 kids, twice divorced and having no health care is what drives Matt to the stage night after night. Matt never misses a chance to laugh at himself, which allows him to break down the barrier between the audience and the performer. It's like sitting down with an old friend and having the time of your life. In addition to his stand up performances, Matt has also kept busy creating one-man shows. In 2014 he wrote and produced his show "Thank You Johnny Carson", which received great reviews. In 2015 he debuted his latest show, "Acting My Age!" Matt has performed with many of the greats in the comedy world: Louis CK, Dave Attel, John Pinette, Ron White, and Jimmy Pardo among many, many more. Matt's latest CD "Acting My Age" can be heard on Sirius/XM radio and debuted on the top ten I-tunes comedy chart.

Josh Gracin

Josh Gracin

Saturday, June 29, 2019 8:00 pm

Josh Gracin is back. Fans fell in love with the former Marine upon his ascension onto the Country charts in 2004 with "I Want To Live." The hits came in short order for Gracin - the chart-topper "Nothin' To Lose," "Stay With Me (Brass Bed)," and "We Weren't Crazy" all hit high on the Billboard charts. And, as it does when an artist tastes success, the road beckoned. Seattle. Green Bay. Austin. Bangor. Gracin found himself thrust into the national spotlight. "Things happened so fast. And, it was wonderful - each and every minute. But, I don't know that I was taking the time to soak it in. Things just kind of ran together." So, Josh pulled over to the side of the road, and decided it was time to just breathe. Making such a move isn't what one is taught in Career 101, but he had faith his audience would follow him on his journey. "The fans have always been incredible to me," says the singer. "I know so many of them on a first-name basis. I knew that they would stay the course with me. I just wanted to find a song - one of those can't miss songs that you can't deny. That's exactly what I did." Now, with the release of his new single, "Good For You," Gracin is back on Country Radio - a format that has been very good to him - alongside the digital service providers that treated him well on his last digital release "Nothin' Like Us." The release is a partnership between Reviver (David Lee Murphy, Michael Tyler, Tenille Arts) and his own Revel Road label. "I'm very excited with what's going on now, because we have grown a team who believes in me and my music and has built this whole infrastructure alongside me. Together, we are connecting with the fans like never before." With the new single, Josh Gracin is armed with the best music of his career. It's a song he's been in search of for a while. "'Good for You' is definitely a different type of song. I grew up in Michigan learning how to sing off R&B and Soul music. It transitioned into Country music when I was about thirteen and it's been Country ever since. I always wanted to infuse that type of Soul / R&B type sound with Country. Actually, some of my cuts off my earlier albums you can see that in some of what we've done. Even though it doesn't have this big monstrous long production like some of my hits do it still sounds like it does because of the melody of the song, the lyrics." Josh thinks that once listeners hear the song, they will be hooked on it, as well. "It really pulls you in. The lyrics are clear. The story is clear. It's a topic that hasn't been written like this, at least in country music. It's your classic guy meets girl approach, but it's never been written like this before. I was always scared to release a slow ballad because everybody today wants something upbeat, but when you listen to the song it's a shift in the pocket of the production that was done from top to bottom. This song is just a different level. It's different than anything else out there on the radio but when you hear it, it sticks." "Good For You" is available now on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and Pandora, here, and impacts Country radio on November 5th . So, you've heard the hits. You've seen him live on stage. But, now with his new music, he feels he's ready to impact lives. "What is music supposed to do? It's aim is to touch people. I have heard so many stories from fans about 'Brass Bed' or 'Nothin' To Lose," and how they brought meaning to people's lives. That's a feeling you can't put into words. I have purposely waited until I found such a song as 'Good For You.' I truly believe this is one of those songs." He's already been trying out the music live - and the results have been great. "People are really loving the new stuff when we play it - they love the older material as well - but I am really feeling a connection with the audience as never before. This song has the potential to take us higher than ever - and I'm ready for each and every moment." So, get ready, because you are truly about to know Josh Gracin as never before!

Uncle Kracker

Uncle Kracker

Wednesday & Thursday, July 10 & 11, 2019 8:30 pm

No matter what he does or where he goes, Uncle Kracker adheres to a simple, yet rather timeless philosophy. "I really subscribe to this mindset of just having fun," he affirms. "That's what it's always about. It's the train that I'm forever on. The way I feel is if I'm enjoying it, it's really worth doing." Now he's having more fun than ever. Last year Uncle Kracker joined Sugar Ray, Better Than Ezra and Eve 6 for the Under The Sun Tour 2015, hitting sheds across the country throughout the summer. Uncle Kracker will be back on the road in 2016. His live show continues to get bigger and better with every tour. "It's very interactive," he says. "It's meant to be a party, and I want everybody involved. Each time we go on stage, I want people to leave smiling." That outlook has served him well over the years. After vaulting to stardom as a charismatic presence and chief collaborator in Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker Band, the Michigan singer, songwriter, and performer, also known as Matthew Shafer, kicked off a stunning solo career of his own. His 2000 major label debut, Double Wide, fittingly went double-platinum and yielded #1 smash "Follow Me". Its 2002 follow-up No Stranger To Shame reached gold status and spawned cross-format hits such as "In A Little While" and the powerful cover of Dobie Gray's "Drift Away", which set a Billboard record for most weeks at #1 on any chart, topping their #1 run on the Adult Contemporary radio charts for a staggering 28 weeks. Country superstar Kenny Chesney tapped him for "When The Sun Goes Down," which impressively spent five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart. Throughout, he played sold out shows across the country and appeared everywhere from the American Country Music Awards to Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Then, 2012 saw him fully embrace his country side with his critically acclaimed fifth outing, Midnight Special. Uncle Kracker is still having a blast, and fans worldwide undoubtedly will too when they see him on the road. "When I'm up onstage, I don't feel removed from the people coming to hear the music," he leaves off. "You can feel it, when they identify with you. Sometimes when I'm up there, I wanna tell'em 'I'm not any different than you are.'"

Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

Saturday, July 13, 2019 7:00 pm & 9:30 pm

Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it's much more than just being a tribute. It's about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightlywound talent and authenticity. Each band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes, Zoso's 2400 live shows around the world, including a slot at Bonnaroo in 2003, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market. Zoso's live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It's in the way they play: Each band member's mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spoton vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new, diehard Zeppelin fans. Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim, name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being "head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes," and the Chicago SunTimes declared Zoso is "the closest to the original of any tribute." If you missed Led Zeppelin live in the 70's or are looking to relive the "Hammer of the Gods" phenomenon, you must experience what the St. Petersburg Times calls "the most exacting of the Zeppelin tribute bands in existence."
