The Artimus Pyle Band

Friday, April 26, 2024 8:00 pm

More than just a "tribute" to Lynyrd Skynyrd a tribute to the man that defined it. Artimus Pyle has said " If it wasn't for Ronnie, no one would know my name." Since his departure from Skynyrd in 1991 , Artimus Pyle's career has led him down an amazing path of solo records and projects culminating into one the finest tributes to southern rock royalty. The Artimus Pyle Band is a high energy, true to the music, and true to the era rock group. One of the few that is on the road today. Artimus Pyle, Brad Durden, Jerry Lyda, Dave Fowler, and Scott Raines are not only a group of friends and contemporaries but a group with some of the most seasoned musician in the southeast.

APB delivers hit after hit after hit, night after night after night. From Freebird to Sweet Home Alabama, APB gives fans the best of Skynyrd with one of men who made it!

Long considered the "wild man" of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle's powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound.

Artimus got his first real break at the Charlie Daniels band's Volunteer Jam. His first recording lists -- Artimus Pyle, percussion. Then with other work for the Marshall Tucker Band, Artimus became known as a powerful session drummer.

Using his connections with Charlie Daniels and Marshall Tucker, both acts that toured often with Skynyrd, Artimus met with Ronnie VanZant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. The results of that meeting -- Saturday Night Special -- greatly impressed Ronnie. Artimus' live debut with the band took place in Jacksonville's Sgt Pepper's Club in October 1974. The gig, a show to raise money and awareness for Jacksonville's food bank, was hot Everyone remembers the band walking through the front door and into a crush of people that doubled the legal occupancy of the club. Playing under the hot lights in an over-packed club with an underpowered air conditioner made for a memorable night When Bob Burns left the band permanently following Skynyrd's first European tour in December 1974, Artimus quickly got the nod as Skynyrd's new drummer.

The years Artimus played with Skynyrd were the years that solidified the legend behind the band. Quickly developing into one of the nation's top touring draws with a grueling schedule of 300 shows a year, the constant work and touring paid off. By October 20, 1977, Skynyrds songs had become radio staples.

About Jon Langston

The epitome of a grass-roots country star, 32 Bridge Entertainment/EMI Records Nashville talent Jon Langston gives new credence to the 10-year, 10,000-hour rule of mastering one’s craft. Arriving with a Gold-certified splash via the homespun, lost-in-love ballad “Forever Girl” in 2013 – the first song he ever wrote – Langston has spent the ensuing decade on a mission to grow as both an artist and man, working with some of the genre’s modern icons. A Georgia native schooled on ‘90s-country heroes like Alan Jackson, plus classic rock, Southern rap, R&B and more, his efforts have produced three EPs, a No. 1 all-genre iTunes debut (“When It Comes To Loving You”) and more than half a billion global streams – plus a 2022 Grand Ole Opry debut, sold-out headline shows and a spot on mentor Luke Bryan’s annual tour. Wielding a warm vocal buzz drenched in raspy Southern soul, and a modern-country sound blending warmth with in-the-moment muscle, Langston’s long-awaited debut album, Heart On Ice, is set for a September 8th release, marking his next step from open mics to country’s elite. Featuring 14 songs – 11 of which he co-wrote – and produced by Jody Stevens, Jacob Rice and Brad Wagner, the concept album infuses his country-radio roots with a fresh electricity, and adds a bold sense of maturity to the singer-songwriter’s catalog of party anthems and ballads built on a wounded-but-still-beating heart. Early releases like “Whiskey Does” and “Ain’t No Cowboy” proved his knack for a romantic hook has only sharpened since “Forever Girl,” while “Heart On Ice” serves as a showcase of the intention Langston brings to both music and life – and a hint toward deep-feeling hits yet to come. Now savoring life like a glass of top-shelf bourbon – and making country music with the same barrel-aged patience – Langston is currently featured on Luke Bryan’s Country On Tour, and can be found headlining shows across the nation.

Elvis Tribute Artist - Jake Slater

Elvis Tribute Artist - Jake Slater

Sunday, July 28, 2024 7:00 pm

Jake Slater was born December 31st, 1991. He lived the first thirteen years of his life in a small farming community just south of Saginaw Michigan where he attended school, went to church, and began the love for the music that would change his life forever. Life was pretty simple with a go-cart, shooting guns in the back forty with Dad, playing with his dog, and working on old cars in the garage with his Grandpa. An Elvis fan since 6 years old, his interest in Elvis began when his Grandparents acquired the internet. While listening to an online 1950's music channel, the sounds of "You're So Square (Baby I Don't Care)" echoed through the speakers. The artist's name accompanying the song title was that of Elvis Presley. The light bulb lit up and the gene of Rock n' Roll was switched on.
At the age of thirteen, Jake made an important move north to Bellaire, Michigan the same as Elvis did from Tupelo to Memphis all those years ago. This move proved to be a turning point, and the doors of opportunity were soon opened for Jake and his career as an Elvis tribute artist. Christmas 2007 would be the first time anyone would see Jake perform, besides his parents in their living room back in St. Charles. A brief show for family and neighbors would be the debut of his idea to tribute to the King of Rock n' Roll. The idea was young but the potential was there for something special. One audience member, a very good friend and neighbor Jean Ann Gordon, would be the one to later get Jake his very first show, in the summer of 2008. This was the beginning of Jake performing for the public. It was a sold out show and a big confidence boost. A week to the day after that first show the phone rang and on the other end was someone wanting to book a show on the opposite side of the state. Since then, the phones haven't stopped ringing and the shows continue.
Jake is a National and International award winning Elvis Tribute Artist that has performed all over Michigan, across the country, and as well as Canada. Jake performs all eras of Elvis's music, the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. He has performed for audiences of all sizes, sold out shows, and for many wonderful causes. Elvis tribute competitions were another layer of expansion in Jake's career; the first being, the Saginaw Kingfest, where he won the Early Years segment of the contest in 2009. In 2011 he competed again and won the entire competition, receiving the title of King of Saginaw! Jake has the distinction of being the only King of Saginaw who has won both the Early Years and Concert Years portions of the competition as well as winning the overall title. In 2011, Jake competed in Branson, MO and Tupelo, MS in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary rounds. He then also competed in the preliminary round at the Windsor Elvis Festival in June 2011. It was there that he qualified and went on to represent Windsor, Ontario, later that year and getting to compete in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition in Memphis, TN. Jake was one of only twenty-six qualifying tribute artists from around the world at the 2011 competition in Memphis. In April 2013, Jake was awarded 2nd place in the Branson Elvis Festival for the second time. He has performed four SOLD OUT shows at the Bay City State Theatre, with two of those sellouts in the same year, 2013! Jake received an official congratulation certificate letter noting the sellouts. No other performer has accomplished this at the State Theatre.
Jake then competed and won the title of King of Saginaw again in 2014! He is the only Elvis Tribute Artist to win this title twice and remains the reigning King of Saginaw. From there, he qualified to go on and compete in Memphis, TN at the Elvis Entertainers Network Championships. Jake recently performed at Bay City, Michigan's Wenonah Park this past summer 2015, where it stated in the newspapers the following day, that there were over 5,000 fans that attended! A recent accomplishment for Jake, was being featured on the cover of Northern Express Magazine, which also included a feature interview article issue inside!
Capturing the voice, moves, style, facts, and complete aura of Elvis, and keeping his memory alive, Elvis Tribute Artist Jake Slater will simply captivate and take you back to a time when rock and roll was at its purest and most influential state. He will bring back memories for those who lived in the time of Elvis' career and make new memories for younger generations. "And now ladies and gentlemen, not from Tupelo, Mississippi, but from the back roads and by ways of Bellaire, Michigan, please welcome Elvis Tribute Artist Jake Slater!"

Bagpipes with attitude. Drums with a Scottish accent. A blazing rock band and show so hot, it carries its own health warning!

It's Bagpipes. It's Rock. It's Bagrock. AC/DC meets the poet Robert Burns. Where rock anthems sit comfortably alongside the great tunes from the glens and the mountains of Scotland.

It's The Red Hot Chilli PIPERS - (NOT the Peppers!) -- a 9-piece ensemble consisting of pipers, guitarists, keyboards, and drummers -- who have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing to Melbourne and everywhere in between with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. The band has four music degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the pipers and drummers have played at the top level in bagpiping.

Since they walked away with the top prize on the primetime TV talent show, "When Will I Be Famous" in the U.K. in 2007, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers haven't stopped for a breath, other than to inflate their bagpipes! Formed in 2002, The Chillis have fast become a global phenomenon, taking their signature 'Bagrock' sound to the masses with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres. Their trademarked sound is a unique fusion of traditional pipe tunes - like "The Flowers of Scotland", "The Hills of Argyll", and "Amazing Grace" (done Chilli-style, of course!) -- and contemporary anthems like Queen's "We Will Rock You", "Clocks" by Coldplay, "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol, "Let Me Entertain You" by Robbie Williams, and a fantastic rock medley of "Deep Purple", "Smoke on the Water", and AC/DC's "Thunderstruck".

ZOSO - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

ZOSO - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

Saturday, August 31, 2024 7:00 & 9:30 pm

ZOSO Celebrates 28 Years as America's Premier Led Zeppelin Tribute Band

Headlining at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, The Tabernacle (Atlanta, GA), The National (Richmond, VA), The Fillmore (Detroit, MI), Granada Theater (Dallas, TX), House of Blues (Orlando, FL), and more, international touring juggernaut ZOSO is set to perform up to 150 shows in 2023

Over the 28 years and over 4500 shows since ZOSO came together as a group in the mid-'90s, the seemingly tireless quartet continues to earn its well-deserved reputation as being, in the words of The L.A. Times, "head and shoulders above all other Led Zeppelin tributes." The reasons for that are manifest. For starters, surely no singer has ever captured the distinctive timbre, range, power, and seductive force of Robert Plant's vocal delivery as adroitly as ZOSO's lead vocalist and founder, Matt Jernigan, whose flowing, corkscrew blonde locks and leonine stage moves evoke the Plant persona perfectly. ZOSO co-founder Adam Sandling, the band's multi-instrumental master of electric bass, keyboards,
and mandolin, likewise echoes John Paul Jones' myriad gifts to a tee, allowing the four-piece ZOSO to perform fully fleshed-out versions of classics like "Kashmir," "Trampled Under Foot," and "Stairway to Heaven" that demand up to six members or more to execute in other Zep-inspired ensembles. That's not the ZOSO way; instead, the band draws liberally and meticulously from Led Zeppelin's recorded live output to present a vivid performance picture of the classic live Zeppelin of 1970-1977. No wonder the St. Petersburg Times noted that, in addition to their virtuosity and spot-on visual presentation, ZOSO was also "the most exacting of all the Led Zeppelin tributes." Meanwhile, the band's new blood has turbo-charged the ZOSO formula even more. Drummer Bevan Davies, the band's burly, black-haired batteur since 2015, flattens the band's fans nightly with his Bonham-
approved triplet blasts, tympani thunder, and fat, lumbering grooves. Davies boasts an impressive pedigree that includes touring tenures with the likes of Danzig, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Static X, and regular gigs with The Cult's Billy Duffy. Taking on the demanding Jimmy Page chair for ZOSO in May of 2021, new lead guitarist James Volpe
Rotondi (aka "Jimmy") brings an equally high-level CV to the table, as a former member of Humble Pie, Mike Patton's Mr. Bungle, and French superstars AIR. Decked out in Page's iconic dragon matador jacket, two-tone shoes, and cascading black hair, Rotondi wields his Gibson Les Paul and double-neck guitars like he was born to it, with a huge, crafted tone and a stunning technique that weaves together Page's roots in blues, country, funk, and fingerstyle.

Still, while the players' provenance, and the band's deep history, speak for themselves, it's that high- wire musicianship combined with ZOSO's spot-on recreation of the mythic presence of Led Zeppelin onstagethat keeps their dedicated longtime fans coming back for more year after year. What's more, new generations of ZOSO devotees in their teens and Twenties are likewise lining up to experience for themselves the power and majesty-and yes, the alluring combination of danger, spontaneity, skill, and sexuality-that
define a world-class Led Zeppelin concert. "[ZOSO is] the closest to the original of any Led Zeppelin tribute," proclaims the Chicago Sun-Times, and they are not wrong. ZOSO's ongoing invitation to all generations, all ages, all backgrounds of Led Zeppelin fans, then, is a very simple one: Relive it . . . LIVE.

Featuring a variety of hits and deep cuts off of the first 6 albums, JUMP's live show includes a selection of skits and one liners portrayed by Van Halen from bootlegs of their live shows between 1978-1984.

Johnny Folsom 4

Johnny Folsom 4

Friday, October 18, 2024 8:00 pm

From A Boy Named Sue to Ring of Fire, the Johnny Folsom 4 pays tribute to the legendary Man in Black.
Lead singer David Burney brings a lilting southern baritone to Cash's classic songs which hits the mark well enough that you will wonder if Johnny, himself, is in the building. John Fussell more than meets the challenge of filling in for Luther and Carl Perkins on those classic guitar licks. And Steve Eisenstadt (bass) and Randy Benefield (drums) provide the hallmark, train-like driving rhythm the whole world loves.True to the Mr Cash's poetic spirit, JF4 promises an honest and entertaining performance for fans of all ages.
Here's what people are saying:
"For those of us unable to have seen Cash perform during his life, this is more than a treat. It's a time machine." ~ NO DEPRESSION Magazine :: The Roots Music Authority

"I loved every minute of it. It was so believable I thought I was listening to Johnny Cash" ~ Susan Nash, Cultural Center of Cape Cod

"There is no one on the planet who can better bring the heart and soul of Johnny Cash to the stage than David Burney and Johnny Folsom 4." ~ Rebecca Newton, CEO, Carolina Theatre of Durham

"A peerless tribute band to the late, great Johnny Cash." ~ David Menconi, Raleigh News & Observer
"David not only sounds like the great Johnny Cash, he has the stance, the movement, the style of playing the guitar high on the neck, and the big presence and attitude. He channels JR! ~ Jackie Cash (Johnny Cash's niece)
When it comes to honoring Johnny Cash, JF4 walks the line.
